Just A Few . . .

So far, our girls have been very good about kidding right on schedule.  We had three large-breed and one Nigerian doe due in April and so far we've had two of the large-breed girls freshen;

Daisy (ADGA Alpine) gave us a very nice pair of boys by Last Starfighter (ADGA Saanen) that are just super-sweet and affectionate in addition to being quite large and coordinated for their age.  These boys were born on Saturday the 25th of April and will be available as wethers, probably great for packing goats as they'll be huge but very solid and VERY laid back like their parents.

Rigby (Saanen x Nubian) gave us a singleton baby by one of our Nigerian bucks (identity to follow as she jumped INTO the buck pen one day for about an hour and this is the result) on Wednesday the 29th of April - very cute, will be medium-sized and will be available as a wether.    I am thrilled with his mother's FF udder, especially considering he was only a couple hours old and she was already getting more full than before she freshened (some of my girls take a day or two) and she does have her mother's superb teats; great orifices and very soft skin with perfect size for milking and pointing right at the pail the whole time.  This girl will most likely be offered for sale with her son or after he's weaned as I really need to cut down on the numbers and now that she's going to be a proven mother and milk doe I feel better about selling her as a family milker.  The fact that she's adorable and super-sweet is another reason I think she'd love to be in a smaller herd where she gets a lot of personal attention.

In the labor room . . .

We're watching two does for the last of the April freshenings; our Nigerian darling Splash, whose sister gave us nice girls last month and our Saanen Sallie, who is looking close but not as close as I'd have expected.
